Letting hope find you
World affairs have, of course, been making me feel all kinds of pessimism and hopelessness lately, but I can't let that make me think all hope for a better world is lost.
I like to imagine hope like a small and slightly smug creature that likes to hide in unexpected places, if not in plain sight.

I see it in strangers being kind to strangers, in professionals doing their often thankless jobs with incredible integrity and even joy.
I see it in resilient people, and people who learn to be resilient, who do what leads to a better and kinder world.
So, the best I can do is take life one step at a time. One foot in front of the other. Breathing in, then out.
Growing into my best self as an act of love for the world I want to contribute to.
